Breeders' Cup, one of Thoroughbred horse racing's most prestigious international events, today announces Luck at the Cup, a new and engaging talk show that will spotlight several of the industry's most iconic personalities as they prepare for the 2019 Breeders' Cup World Championships, the season-ending event taking place on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Hosted by racing broadcaster Nick Luck and modeled after his popular television program in the UK, Luck on Sunday, the six-episode series will offer exclusive, one-on-one interviews with the owners, trainers, jockeys as well-known veterinarians and racetrack executives.
“Our fans are increasingly looking to go behind-the-scenes and learn about the first-person experiences of those who are most deeply involved in the industry,” said Justin McDonald, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Breeders' Cup. “In recent years, we've introduced a robust selection of new content and programming that provides this exact privileged access and insider insight they are seeking, and we're thrilled to offer yet another opportunity for fans to follow along with their favorite racing figures with Luck at the Cup. Leveraging Nick Luck's extensive expertise, the show will place viewers directly in front of the biggest players heading to the Breeders' Cup, and we're hopeful that fans will find it both informative and fun.”
Premiering on Friday, October 18, with subsequent episodes released daily thereafter, Luck at the Cup will deliver exclusive dialogue and insider stories from the sidelines of Santa Anita and Keeneland, two of the most storied venues in North American racing and the sites of many of the season's most pivotal moments. Throughout the series, viewers can expect to encounter everyone from all-time greats Jerry Bailey & Mike Smith to Hall of Famer Richard Mandella to some of the industry's most respected voices, such as Graham Motion & Dr. Kathy Anderson.
“I am very grateful to Breeders' Cup for allowing me the opportunity to interview at length some true legends, and to combine the reliving of powerful personal memories with a candid appraisal of the sport's challenges,” said Nick Luck. “From multiple Hall of Fame jockeys and trainers to those seeking debut Breeders' Cup wins to those with huge responsibilities as administrators and veterinarians, the love of the Thoroughbred and continued enthusiasm for horse racing shines through. I would like to thank my 14 guests in this series, all of whom gave their time freely, generously and with only minimal arm twisting! Hopefully those who watch on the Breeders' Cup digital platforms or listen to the In The Money Players' Podcast will find the shows as rewarding as I did.”
Luck at the Cup will be available on Breeders' Cup's social channels (YouTube and Facebook ) and the interviews also will be featured on select installments of the In The Money Players' Podcast, the longest continuously running horse racing podcast hosted by Pete Fornatale and Jonathan Kinchen.
