Sippican Harbor will train up to the Breeders' Cup

The two-length winner of Saratoga's Grade 1 Spinaway, Sippican Harbor is on track for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies next month at Churchill Downs. Trainer Gary Contessa watched his star pupil breeze six furlongs in 1:13.81 over Belmont's training track on Monday, her third work since the Spinaway.

“She's just so good right now,” said Contessa. “She just keeps going. She takes a deep breath at the wire and she gallops out just as good as she works.”

The 2-year-old daughter of Orb was flattered this weekend by the dominant performance of Spinaway runner-up Restless Rider in the Alcibiades at Keeneland; Restless Rider posted a 2 1/2-length victory for her third win in four starts.

Sippican Harbor is undefeated on the dirt, a winner of two of her three career starts for earnings of $242,650.
