Multiple stakes winner Scottish will be forced to miss Saturday's G1 Arlington Million after injuring a fetlock during a workout Thursday morning.

The 5-year-old gelding by Teofilo apparently suffered a recurrence of an old fetlock injury, according to information posted on the Godolphin website. Trainer Charlie Appleby told Godolphin.com that Scottish appears to have reinjured his right front fetlock, which he originally hurt last year. Scottish will be sidelined for the rest of 2017.

“It's a real blow,” Appleby said on Thursday. “He had been working really well since returning from Royal Ascot in June, and the trip to the States was very much a prelude to spending the Australian Spring in Melbourne.

“But that's all off the agenda now. The good news is that long term the prognosis is good. All going well, he should be right to race again early next year in Dubai.”
