Wuheida powers past Zipessa on her way to winning the BC Filly & Mare Turf

Wuheida will stay in training as a four-year-old with a return to the Breeders' Cup her main objective.

Charlie Appleby's filly promised plenty last year when winning the Prix Marcel Boussac but before Saturday evening this season had not gone to plan.

A problem in the spring ruled her out of the Classics but she returned with a tremendous performance to be second in the Falmouth Stakes.

Narrowly beaten in three further Group Ones on her travels, misfortune struck again when a minor setback forced her out of the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland in October.

All that was forgotten at Del Mar as William Buick guided her to a famous win in the Filly & Mare Turf over Rhododendron.

Appleby told “She will have an easy first half of the year, and then we will start working towards Kentucky (Churchill Downs) in the autumn.

“A Group One race such as the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville in early August is a suitable race that comes to mind for her in summer, and it is possible she could also drop back to a mile at some stage.”
