Hronis Racing's Catalina Cruiser will not contest this weekend's Pacific Classic at Del Mar, reports horseracingnation.com. The 5-year-old son of Union Rags is undefeated in two starts this year, the G2 True North and the G2 San Diego Handicap, but trainer John Sadler has opted to keep the horse at shorter distances through the remainder of 2019.

“It's the distance, and this is a heavy track this year,” Sadler said. “We want to keep him where we're more comfortable.”

Next options for Catalina Cruiser include the seven-furlong G2 Pat O'Brien or G1 Forego, with a return start in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile a potential target for the end of the year.
