Trainer Gary Hartlage said he's hoping to see an improved performance from On Fire Baby as she heads to the Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster on Sunday at Keeneland. The gray filly finished off the board in her first start over the Polytrack in 2011 when she was fifth in the Darley Alcibiades.
Hartlage told the Louisville Courier-Journal‘s Jennie Rees that the filly was inexperienced then and pressed the pace early on.
“I don't think the surface matters to her,” Hartlage said.
Owner-breeder Anita Cauley said she hopes to try the filly on grass and is anxious to see how she reacts to the synthetic surface now that she's gained more racing experience.
The Spinster is a Win-And-You're-In race for the Breeders' Cup Distaff.
