Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith will not be mounted on McKinzie, the potential favorite, for this year's Breeders' Cup Classic, according to After an off-the-pace tactic and runner-up finish in last weekend's G1 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita, trainer Bob Baffert is ready to make a switch.

“I'm still going to use Mike on horses,” Baffert said. “But for the Classic, I'm going to make a change. I let Mike know now, because I want to give him a chance to get something else.”

No new rider has been named for McKinzie, who has two wins and four seconds from six starts this season, all under Smith.
