Van Nistelrooy filly leads Under Tack Show at OBS Winter Mixed Sale

Hip No. 253, Red Roy, a 3-year-old Van Nistelrooy filly consigned by Paul Sharp, Agent, worked three eighths in :32 flat to post the fastest work of the day at the Under Tack Show for the Horses of Racing Age section of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2012 Winter Mixed Sale. The gray or roan filly, a half sister to stakes placed Run Red Run, is out of stakes placed Red Melody, by Runaway Groom.

There are 530 horses cataloged for the two-day sale, with hip numbers 1-110 selling in Tuesday's Consignor Preferred session, followed by numbers 111 – 264 in the new Horses of Racing Age section. Hip numbers 301 – 572 sell on Wednesday, January 18th in the Open Session. The sale begins each day at 11:00 a.m. Updates to the catalog may be viewed in a sortable index at the OBS website at

The Racing Age Section, including 35 newly turned two year olds and 119 older horses is headed by Hip No. 145, Lady Clara, a daughter of Hard Spun who had a timely update by finishing third in the recent Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct.  Past performances are currently available via the website.

Hip No. 128, Hard as Steel, a colt by Hard Spun consigned by W.D. North Thoroughbreds, Agent, sped the session's fastest half mile, stopping the timer in :45 flat. The dark bay or brown 3-year-old colt is out of stakes winner Swift Alliance, by Afleet, and is a half brother to graded stakes winner Sky Alliance.

Hip No. 117, Vitium, a colt by Pure Prize consigned by Kim Harrsion (Top Speed Farm), Agent, worked a half in :46 flat. The gray or roan 3-year-old colt is out of Small Vices, by With Approval, a half sister to graded stakes winner Stradivinsky.
