Newmarket trainer Marco Botti smashed France's Arqana Breeze-Up Sale price record on Saturday when he signed a €520,000 ticket for a Sea The Stars colt. The colt, already named Salamargo, was caught in a bidding war between Nicolas de Watrigant's Mandore Agency and Hugo Merry. Botti purchased the horse on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.
The second foal of listed-winning mare Navajo Moon, the colt is half-brother to maiden winner Tribal Path, who sold for €200,000 last summer.
“I have three juveniles by Sea The Stars with me and he is probably one of the best I've seen by the sire,” Botti told the Racing Post.
