A rare roan-paint Thoroughbred will go through the ring on Friday, June 7 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale in Australia.
A childhood dream for southeast Asian-based, American-born entrepreneur and owner/breeder Jesse Davison of Expectations Bloodstock, the filly is by European and Hong Kong champion shuttle stallion, Holy
Roman Emperor.
The filly goes through the ring as Lot 2440, and she's the first foal out of the unraced Profile in Style mare Lilac In Style.
Years of planning, research, and a lot of luck all came together for Davison after purchasing the filly's dam, a minimally marked colored mare. The color-producing genes in the filly on offer come from the mare's side of the family, but Davison closely studied the color patterns and white markings of every stallion standing in Australia and their progeny before choosing Holy Roman Emperor as the stallion he best believed with a little luck would
produce his dream horse.
“I still remember the email I received after the foaling from Marty Roberts who at the time was director of breeding for Aquis Farm, where Holy Roman Emperor shuttled and the filly was born,” Davison said. “It was titled, 'Just what you wanted.'”
“We kept her off social media and a secret until now, as I wanted the public to see her in all her beautiful glory,” he continued. “It takes time for colored foals to shed out and show their final adult colors, and unlike grey horses, she should never fade to white and lose her color.”
The Gold Coast National Yearling Sale takes place June 5-7 in Gold Coast, Australia.
