OBS March 2-Year-Old Sale Begins Tuesday

The OBS March Sale of Two Year Olds in Training begins Tuesday, March 13th. Hip No.'s 1 – 286 will sell Tuesday and Hip No.'s 287 – 573 will be offered Wednesday, March 14th. Both sessions will begin at 10:30 a.m. As always the sale will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com and the Blood-Horse and DRF websites.

The catalog can be viewed via the OBS website at http://obssales.com. The website's improved searchable and sortable master index provides links to past performances, under tack videos, pedigree and consignor information as well as pedigree updates occurring since the catalog was printed. It has also been updated to allow shortlist creation. A link to instructions for using the new features can be found in the index header and a step by step tutorial is available in the index as well.

The Under Tack Show spanned three days. The Thursday session was bedeviled by gusting winds and unseasonably cold temperatures. Conditions were ideal on Friday and Saturday, however, with light winds and moderate temperature.

Fillies by Scat Daddy and Shanghai Bobby breezed eighths in :9 4/5 to share honors for the fastest works at the distance at Thursday's first Under Tack session.

  • Hip No. 132, a dark bay or brown filly by Shanghai Bobby consigned by SBM Training and Sales, Agent, is out of stakes placed Yankee Victoria, by Yankee Victor.
  • Hip No. 141, consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent, is a dark bay or brown filly by Scat Daddy, a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Sharp Sensation out of Accusation, by Royal Academy.

Four youngsters shared honors for the Thursday session's fastest quarter, stopping the timer in :21 1/5.

  • Hip No. 55, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, is a bay colt by Orb out of Stick to Your Guns, by Awesome Again, a daughter of stakes winner El Bank Robber.
  • Hip No. 59 is a dark bay or brown colt by Uncaptured consigned by Pick View LLC, Agent, out of Suite Ten, by Rock Hard Ten, from the family of millionaire grade one stakes winner Student Council.
  • Hip No. 99, a bay colt by Fed Biz consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, is out of Tulipmania, by Empire Maker, a half sister to graded stakes winner Straight Story.
  • Hip No. 151, also consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, is a gray or roan colt by Pioneerof the Nile out of stakes winner American Lady, by Stormy Atlantic, a half sister to graded stakes winning OBS March graduate The Pamplemousse.

The time for Friday's fastest eighth was :9 4/5, posted by eight youngsters.

On Saturday, Hip No. 567, a bay colt by Goldencents consigned by Hoby & Layna Kight, Agent, breezed a quarter in :20 1/5, the sales fastest work at the distance.  He's out of Royale Paradise, by Unbridled's Song, a daughter of graded stakes winner Royale Michelle.

The Under Tack Show videos are posted online at obssales.com as well as viewable on site via video kiosks located around the sales pavilion.
