2001 Kentucky Derby-G1 winner Monarchos is progressing well after his return to Nuckols Farm eleven days ago, farm owner Charles Nuckols III announced today.
After undergoing emergency colic surgery on July 31 the 14-year-old son of Maria's Mon “now has about half of his paddock for grazing” Nuckols commented, adding “we have slowly allowed his food intake to increase, we are no longer using the muzzle and he is off all his medications.”
Charles Nuckols III said the 14-year-old son on Maria's Mon is extremely popular with fans and that everyone's calls and notes are greatly appreciated. “We are just thrilled with his progress, his suture line looks very good, and we are very optimistic about his future.”
Champion sire Monarchos and the great Secretariat are the only Kentucky Derby winners to break the two minute mark.
