Globetrotting Dunaden, winner of the 2011 Melbourne Cup (Aust-I), will stand at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire, England in 2015, the Racing Post reports.
The 8-year-old horse by Nicobar is trained by Mikel Delzangles for Sheikh Fahad al Thani's Pearl Bloodstock. Dunaden has won 10 of 46 starts during his racing career; in addition to the Melbourne Cup, Dunaden also scored victories in the 2011 Hong Kong Vase (HK-I) and the 2012 Caulfield Cup (Aust-I).
David Redvers, Sheikh Fahad's racing and bloodstock adviser, told the Racing Post, “Being based close to Tweenhills Farm and Stud will enable us to walk in plenty of Sheikh Fahad's best mares to be covered by him. Sheikh Fahad is determined to give the horse the opportunity to shine at stud as he did on the racecourse.”
“We will be looking at all sorts of incentives to secure him the best book of Flat mares in addition to the dual-purpose types he is bound to attract.”
