Two-year-old filly Gold Luck has long way to go before she matches the accomplishments of her older half-sister Goldikova, but she got her career off on the right foot with a when she captured a one-mile maiden race at Maisons-Laffitte on Monday.
Gold Luck is the fifteenth foal produced from the Blushing Groom mare, Born Gold. In addition to Goldikova, Born Gold also has produced Galikova (by Galileo), winner of the G1 Prix Vermeille.
Like her older half-sisters, Gold Luck is trained by Freddy Head for the Wertheimer brothers. Head was very pleased with Gold Luck's victory, telling the Racing Post after the race, “I'm very happy with her. She wasn't fully tuned-up today and I think she can make plenty of progress from this.”
“Next year will be for her and we'll leave her through the winter now in the hope she turns into a good filly. She handled herself very well and it looked a nice race. The runner-up pushed her hard at the end and overall they looked a nice bunch.”
