Spendthrift Australia announced two new stallions for 2017, as well as service fees for its entire roster. Swear, the stakes-winning son of Redoute's Choice, and Hit It a Bomb (USA), the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner by War Front (USA), are new additions to the roster of five at Spendthrift Australia.
“This is an exciting time at Spendthrift Australia. We have a lot of big things on the horizon as we continue to grow our brand. We are particularly looking forward to standing our first colonial stallion Swear, who was a stand-out yearling at the sales for us. Swear lived up to his looks on the racetrack, and we invite everyone to come out and take a look at him. You won't be disappointed,” said Garry Cuddy, general manager at Spendthrift Australia. “We are also enthused to offer breeders a new young shuttler with serious pedigree and race record. Hit It a Bomb is a son of the world-renowned War Front and from a wonderful running family. He was a Grade 1-winning 2-year-old on turf with a big turn of foot, and we believe breeders are going to really like him.”
A $725,000 Inglis Easter yearling, Swear won on debut as a 2-year-old and was a stakes-winning 3-year-old. He captured the $125,000 ATC Ming Dynasty Quality G3, making him the first Spendthrift Australia yearling purchase to become a stakeswinner while racing in the farm's colors. By legendary sire of sires Redoute's Choice, Swear is out of the New Zealand champion 2-year-old filly, Crossyourheart.
Trained by Michael & Wayne & John Hawkes, Swear retires to Spendthrift Australia where he will participate in the farm's renowned “Share The Upside” program for a fee of $8,250 Inc. GST. He will also be offered at $5,500 Inc. GST Payable On Live Foal.
Hit It a Bomb marks the newest shuttler set to stand at Spendthrift Australia. The regally-bred colt became the lone Breeders' Cup winner for international sire sensation War Front when he overcame a wide post to win the 2015 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland.
Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Hit It a Bomb was undefeated from three runs in Ireland and America as a 2-year-old. Out of the stakes-winning Sadler's Wells (USA) mare Liscanna (Ire), Hit It a Bomb is a full sister to Group One winner Brave Anna (USA), a leading 2-year-old filly last season in Europe and 2016 Cartier nominee for Champion Two-Year-Old Filly.
For commercial breeders, Hit It a Bomb will stand for a fee of $8,800 Inc. GST as a participant in Spendthrift's “Breed Secure” program. He will also be offered for $8,800 Inc. GST Payable On Live Foal.
