Animal Kingdom wins the Kentucky Derby.

Animal Kingdom has a half-brother making waves in Japan. The 2-year-old son of Deep Impact, named Satono Kingdom, took his debut victory decisively by 1 1/4 lengths at Nakayama, according to The Racing Post. The colt is conditioned by Sakae Kunieda and was ridden by Keita Tosaki.

Dalicia, Animal Kingdom's dam, was originally owned by Team Valor International, the group which campaigned the son of Leroidesanimaux to victories in the 2011 Kentucky Derby and the 2013 Dubai World Cup. The mare was purchased at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale in 2009 by Shadai Farm.

When purchased, she was in foal to Mr. Greeley. That foal became a winner, as did Dalicia's next two, one by Neo Universe and one by Heart's Cry. She currently has a yearling and a filly foal by Stay Gold on the ground.
