Multiple Group 1 winner and top sire Dashing Blade was euthanized earlier this week at Gestut Etzean in Germany after developing neurological problems. He was 26.

Dashing Blade earned championship honors in Ireland as a juvenile, after earning victories in both the National Stakes (Ire-I) and Dewhurst Stakes (Eng-I) in 1989.

Retired to stud at age four, Dashing Blade sired 67 stakes winners, including G1 winners Faberger and Lord of England. He also excelled as a broodmare sire, with his daughters producing G1 winners Stacelita, Barshiba, and Earl of Tinsdal.
