Initial scans of the 133 mares covered by British superstar Frankel in his first season at stud indicate that the stallion has a fertility rate of 95 percent. Six of the seven mares not currently in foal to Frankel suffered “early fetal deaths” according to a report in the Racing Post but were originally in foal to him.
Of the 133 mares in his first book, 24 belonged to Prince Khalid's Juddmonte Farm. If the remaining mare owners pay the full stud fee, Frankel will have generated £13,625,000 in his first year at stud.
Eight-five percent of the mares in Frankel's first book were winners; 69 percent were black-type horses, and 39 percent were dams of black-type winners.
