Firsthand Justice scored a rallying 3/4-length win on Tuesday in a Thistledown maiden special weight to become the first winner for his sire, Tidal Volume.
Firsthand Justice, a chestnut gelding, completed the six-furlong race in 1:14 over a fast track under jockey Luis Quinonez. The gelding is owned by Sheltowee Farm, trained by Michael Evans II, and he was bred in Ohio by Justice Farm and Greg Justice.
Tidal Volume stands at Poplar Creek Horse Center in Bethel, Ohio for an advertised fee of $3,000.
The 12-year-old son of Tapit won eight of 23 career starts for earnings of $231,476, highlighted by a victory in the Temperence Hill Stakes at Louisiana Downs.
Tidal Volume is out of the unraced Honour and Glory mare Proud Rose, and he is a full-brother to stakes-placed Hollywood Fierce. Champions Bowl Game and De La Rose are in the extended family, along with Grade 1 winners Political Ambition, Upper Nile, and Conquistarose.
