Soldat, winner of the 2011 Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes, sired his first reported foal, a bay filly, on Jan. 6 at Sierra Blanca Equine in Ruidoso Downs, NM.

The filly is out of Magnificent Melody, a daughter of Unbridled's Song. The mare, who is a half-sister to French classic winner Astronomer Royal, was purchased in foal at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga fall sale by Reliance Ranches.

Kim Saunders of Sierra Blanca Equine said of the new arrival, “She is a very well-balanced filly with outstanding conformation. The filly has a strong personality and is already showing her roots by running, running, and running more! We look forward to her bright future.”

Soldat broke his maiden in the G3 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga, and concluded his 2-year old season with a second-place finish in the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.

As a 3-year-old, he won the Fountain of Youth on the main track, defeating future millionaires and G1 winners To Honor and Serve and Shackleford.

Soldat, by leading sire War Front, stands at Woodford Thoroughbreds in Ocala, Fla., for $5,000 live foal/stands and nurses.
