Yeomanstown Stud in Co. Kildare, Ireland, welcomed the first foal El Kabeir on Jan. 9, a colt (and a first foal) for the Irish Group 3-placed Bushranger mare Shes Ranger.
Shes Ranger is from the top Oppenheimer family of Glatisant (dam of Footstepsinthesand) and Lael Stable stalwart Superstar Leo, Enticing, and One Master (winner of the G1 Prix de la Foret in 2018).
El Kabeir, a 7-year-old son of Scat Daddy, won five of 20 career starts, highlighted by victories in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, G3 Jerome Stakes and Gotham Stakes, and the listed City of Laurel Stakes. He was entered in the 2015 Kentucky Derby, but was scratched the day before the race with a foot issue. El Kabeir raced for Zayat Stables and retired to Yeomanstown Stud for the 2018 breeding season.
Bred in Kentucky by Rustlewood Farm, El Kabeir is out of the unraced Unbridled's Song mare Great Venue, from the family of G2 winner Too Much Bling and German champion Mister Slippers.
El Kabeir will stand the 2019 season for an advertised fee of €8,000 (US$9,223).
