Coolmore Stud confirmed Friday morning that the first mare is in foal to Triple Crown champion stallion American Pharoah. The mare, Untouched Talent, was the first to be bred to the son of Pioneerof The Nile two weeks ago.
The farm sent out a Tweet saying “It's very early days but we're happy to confirm Untouched Talent (dam of Bodemeister) is in foal to American Pharoah.” The first of the baby “Pharoahs” is now just 11 months away, if all goes well.
Reports indicate that American Pharoah could cover as many as 170 mares this season. Racing's first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, the $200,000 stud fee makes him one of the most expensive stallions in North America.
