Tapwrit, a classic winner and millionaire by Tapit, is off to a solid start at stud with a number of his first mares bred already confirmed in foal.
“Reminiscent of his sire Tapit, Tapwrit has made a fast start to his stud career,” said Michael Hernon of Gainesway. “Tapwrit is showing strong libido and very good fertility at this early stage in his first season at stud.”
Tapwrit was a $1.2-million purchase at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale. A stakes winner at Gulfstream Park as a 2-year-old, he set a new stakes record in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby, followed by a victory in the classic Belmont Stakes.
Among the best-bred sons of Tapit to enter stud, Tapwrit is out of G1 Spinaway Stakes winner and multiple graded stakes producer Appealing Zophie.
Tapwrit retired to Gainesway with earnings of $1,362,402. He is standing in 2019 for a fee of $12,500 LFSN.
