Europe's best sprinter, Slade Power, has been purchased by Darley following his recent win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Eng-I) at Royal Ascot
The son of Dutch Art completed a Group I double for his trainer Eddie Lynam and owner Mrs. Sabena Power at the royal meeting following victory in the King's Stand Stakes by his stablemate Sole Power.
The 5-year-old will remain in training with Edward Lynam and will race in the colours of his current owner, Mrs. Sabena Power until the end of this year.
Slade Power's next target is the Darley July Cup (Eng-I), a race in which he finished third last year. His end of season target is the 1200m VRC Sprint (Aust-I) at Flemington in Australia on 8th November – Emirates Stakes Day, the second Saturday of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Joe Osborne, Darley's managing director in Ireland said, “Slade Power is an incredibly tough racehorse who consistently performs at the highest level. He's the northern hemisphere's best sprinter and with a physique to match, he'll be a popular addition to our roster when he retires to stud at Kildangan at the end of the year.”
