The California Thoroughbred Breeders Association will host a January mixed sale on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Fairplex Park in Pomona, Calif.
The auction will be conducted in place of the Barretts January Mixed Sale, which was held this year in the same location on Jan. 17. Barretts is owned by the Los Angeles County Fair Association, headquartered at Fairplex Park, which plans to cease the auction company's operations at the end of the year.
Barretts is scheduled to host one final auction, the Fall Sale of Yearlings and Horses of All Ages, on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
The CTBA also conducts an annual Northern California Yearling and Horses of Racing Age Sale on the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, which took place on Aug. 14.
Fasig-Tipton has also stepped in to fill the void left behind by Barretts' looming closure, with plans to host a two-year-olds in training sale and a yearling auction next year at Santa Anita Park.
