Claiborne Farm announced on Oct. 16 the stud fees for a number of their stallions for the upcoming 2020 breeding season.
Leading international sire War Front will remain at $250,000 next year. War Front has sired 21 Grade 1 winners lifetime, including two-time G1-winner Omaha Beach and Preakness Stakes winner War of Will in 2019. In addition to his stellar runners on the track, War Front's yearlings continued to command top dollar in the sales ring this year, bringing prices up to $2.9 million.
New to Claiborne for 2020 are Demarchelier and Catholic Boy. Demarchelier is by world-renowned sire Dubawi, currently the world's leading sire by percentage of black-type winners. Dubawi is the only British stallion to ever sire 100 Group winners, with 41 G1 winners. A Dubawi colt out of Alina was the world's highest-priced yearling colt sold in 2019, going for $3.6 million guineas to Godolphin at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. Demarchelier will hold the distinction as being the only son of Dubawi standing in Kentucky.
Catholic Boy is a dual-surface star, with Grade 1 wins on both the dirt and turf. A six-time stakes winner so far, he claimed victories in both the Grade 1 Runhappy Travers Stakes and Grade 1 Belmont Derby Invitational in 2018. By internationally successful sire More Than Ready, who has produced Grade 1 winners in seven countries, Catholic Boy will be another exciting addition to the Claiborne roster.
