Sheila Rosenblum, founder and owner of Lady Sheila Stable, announced today that La Verdad, the 2015 Eclipse Champion Female Sprinter, a winner of $1,563,200, foaled a Curlin filly on April 5th at Darley in Lexington, Kentucky.
A multiple Graded Stakes winner of 16 races, La Verdad was the dam of last year's filly sales topper at Keeneland November, consigned by Eaton Sales. Her Tapit filly lit up the board at $800,000 and was purchased by Mandy Pope's Whisper Hill Farm in partnership with Three Chimneys.
Prominent horseman Doug Cauthen, an advisor to Three Chimneys, said: “I saw the filly last month at Whisper Hill in Florida and she is awesome. We closely followed La Verdad's career as a racehorse as she is by Yes It's True who stood at Three Chimneys. The mare was an exceptional racehorse who is passing on her good looks to her progeny.”
“La Verdad's Curlin filly is an outstanding physical at this stage, very strong with great angles like her mother. This is obviously a cross that has worked well with Graded Stakes fillies Terra Promisa & Valadorna. I'm sure this filly will make the cross look even better,” said savvy Bloodstock expert Ben McElroy of McElroy Equine.
“We are extremely pleased with the foal and the care she is receiving at Darley. Several prominent horsemen, including Ben, have told me that she is a standout,” said Sheila Rosenblum. “La Verdad holds a special place in my heart. I am looking to provide every opportunity to have her become as influential a producer as she was a racemare, having bred her to Medaglia d'Oro, Tapit, and Curlin.”
The mare is currently booked to be bred back to Into Mischief.
