Caledonia Road, reigning Eclipse champion two-year-old filly, will be offered at this year's Fasig-Tipton November Sale by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services, agent. Blake-Albina will consign the champion filly as a racing/broodmare prospect on behalf of owners Zoom and Fish Stable Inc., Charlie Spiring, and Newtown Anner Stud.
A three-year-old daughter of leading sire Quality Road out of the Dixie Union mare Come a Callin, Caledonia Road captured last year's G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in authoritative fashion in just her third career start. Among those she defeated in the talent-laden field were Grade 1 winners Separationofpowers, Moonshine Memories, and Heavenly Love, as well as future Queen's Plate heroine Wonder Gadot.
A winner of three of five lifetime starts, she won her debut as a two-year-old at Saratoga by nearly three lengths going seven furlongs. She immediately tackled Grade 1 company in her next start, finishing a game second in the G1 Frizette Stakes when stretching out to a mile. Regally bred, Caledonia Road descends from a prolific Janney female family that includes Grade 1 winners Hymn Book and Data Link.
“It is very rare that a filly with Caledonia Road's credentials comes to public auction,” said consignor Hanzly Albina of Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services. “She is an Eclipse champion, Breeders' Cup champion, and hails from a classic family. She should have broad appeal to leading racing and breeding programs around the globe.”
The Fasig-Tipton November Sale will be held on Sunday, November 4, in Lexington, Ky.
“Caledonia Road is a true collector's item,” added Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “We look forward to showcasing her to the world at our November Sale.”
