Bodemeister, a Grade 1 winner and sire of Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming, will shuttle to Haras la Pasión in Argentina for the next two Southern Hemisphere breeding seasons, BloodHorse reports.
The 10-year-old Empire Maker horse ships to Argentina for the first time after standing the 2018 Northern Hemisphere season at WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky., for an advertised fee of $40,000. He becomes the first sire of a Kentucky Derby winner to stand in Argentina.
Nicolas Benedicto of Haras la Pasión said the farm targeted Bodemeister as a quality replacement after Hill 'n' Dale Farm elected not to ship young sire Violence to the farm for the Southern Hemisphere season, as it had in the past.
In addition to the Derby winner, Bodemeister is the sire of Grade 2 winner American Anthem and Grade 3 winner Once On Whiskey.
