Anodin, who finished a fast-closing second in Saturday's Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile, has been retired and will stand at the Head family's Haras du Quesnay in Normandy, France, in 2015.
Although only sporting two victories in 14 career starts, the 4-year-old full brother to three-time BC Mile winner Goldikova has been competitive in the best company, finishing in the money nine times, five of which were Group 1 races.
Bred in Ireland by the Wertheimer Bros., Anodin was trained by Freddy Head, and ridden throughout his career by Olivier Peslier.
Haras du Quesnay manager Vincent Rimaud told the Racing Post, “We haven't previously had the opportunity to stand a son of [former resident] Anabaa at Haras du Quesnay so we are obviously very happy that this has come about.”
“He has a very fine pedigree as a brother to such a great champion [Goldikova], who of course moved everybody in the racing world during her career. He comes from an extraordinary family and his paternal grandsire is Blushing Groom, which is another point in his favor.”
Anodin is one of 12 winners from 13 runners for his dam Born Gold. In addition to Goldikova, his siblings include Group 1 Prix Vermeille winner Galikova and Group 3 winners Gold Round and Gold Sound.
A stud fee will be announced at a later date.
