Multiple graded stakes winner Aikenite has been purchased privately by Calumet Farm. He was sold by Dogwood Stables. The Yes It's True son was retired from racing on Oct. 29 after reinjuring an ankle.
The colt retired with a record of five wins, four seconds, and three thirds from 23 starts for $875,385 in earnings.
“Aikenite will begin his breeding career in the barn where such greats as Citation, Alydar, Bull Lea and other immortals of the turf have stood,” Cot Campbell, president of Dogwood, told the Blood-Horse. “He deserves a high-class headquarters, and there could be no more prestigious spot than Calumet.”
Aikenite's stud fee has not yet been announced.
