Tiebreaker Needed To Determine Week 4 Winner Of Summer Prop Contest

by | 08.05.2019 | 12:42pm

For the second consecutive week, three participants in the TIF Summer Prop Contest tied with the number of correct props – in this case, 10 – leading to the implementation of the tie-breaker. James Leal of Montebello, California was within $4.80 of the actual $2 return of the Whitney exacta and claimed the win for the week. Leal chose to direct $1,750 to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.

Keith Stafford of Pendleton, South Carolina was $5.00 away from the correct result and landed in second with Charles Bedard of Central Islip, New York in third. Both requested donations to be directed to the PDJF. Select Sales Agency added $1,000 in contributions to the originally pledged $2,000 for the week's results.

Tommy Massis joined Jeffrey Amster in a tie for the overall contest lead with 35 points accrued through four weeks. Terry Ostrowski is alone in third at 34 points. The best overall four-week scores are reflected at the end of this story.

Next week's contest props will be set by Michelle Yu, Simulcast Host at Santa Anita. Michelle finished third in Week 2 of the contest.
