There were nine winners in Friday's Stronach 5, with each bettor cashing for $21,821.10.
The national Pick 5, with an industry-low 12-percent takeout, started with heavily-favored Bunting winning Laurel Park's ninth race and ended with Indian Zip winning the final leg of the sequence in Golden Gate Field's sixth race, returning $23. The sequence also included a $27.60 winner in Major Kelly in Gulfstream Park's 10th race.
Friday's Stronach 5 sequence
- Leg One – Laurel Park 9th Race – Bunting $3.60
- Leg Two – Gulfstream Park 9th Race – Tenacity City $12.20
- Leg Three –Golden Gate Fields 5th Race – Lady Midtown $5.20
- Leg Four –Gulfstream Park 10th Race – Major Kelly $27.60
- Leg Five –Golden Gate Fields 6th Race – Indian Zip $23
The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.
For the Stronach 5, if a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.
The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5. The next Stronach 5 will be held Friday, March 22.
