Aided by a bevy of longshots, the NYRA Bets Late Pick 5, available exclusively to NYRA Bets members across the country, went unsolved on Sunday, leading to a carryover of $46,622 when live racing resumes on Friday.
The Pick 6 sequence also went unsolved for a second straight day at the Big A, resulting in a carryover of $75,958.
Sunday's Pick 6 sequence commenced with New York-bred Seed Money (No. 1) winning her debut in Race 4, returning $33.80 on a $2 win bet. The NYRA Bets Late Pick 5 kicked off with post-time favorite Devilish Romance, who went off at odds of 6-5 capturing Race 5, returning $4.50.
Ventus (No. 9), off at 19-1, continued the big prices, returning $41.40 for his maiden-breaking win in Race 6 for trainer Oscar Barrera. Jump for Joy (No. 6) closed with a late surge to win a photo finish, paying $17.40 for owner Robert Amendola and trainer Merktan Kantarmaci.
Pat's No Fool (No. 2, $34.40) captured the one mile $100,000 Maddie May in the day's feature in Race 8, while Quietude (No 10) closed out the day at odds of 8-1 in the finale.
A consolation payout of $1,840 was awarded to bettors who had four of six winners in the Pick 6.
Live racing resumes Friday opening day of the spring meet, with a 9-race card highlighted by the Grade 3, $150,000 Distaff for fillies and mares 4-years-old and upward at a mile. First post time is at 1:30 p.m., with the Pick 6 beginning in Race 4 with a 3:03 p.m. post time.
