On Tuesday, Oct. 22, JACK Thistledown Racino added another note in its history book, paying out the largest racing jackpot in one day totaling $375,886. This historic payout came on the last day of the Cleveland, Ohio, track's 2019 racing season.

The payout was accumulated throughout the racing season as the winnings of the Pick 6 wager, a carryover pool that requires a mandatory payout at the end of the season. Guests who correctly picked the winning horses of the day's last six races were eligible for this prize and over 1,000 winning tickets walked away with part of the jackpot. The wager, which can be bet on with the minimum of twenty cents, began the day at $111,000 and quickly increased as race fans saw the opportunity to hit big.

The first five winners of the Pick 6 were betting favorites with the final winner of the sequence paying $13.80, leading to a $347.40 payout.

“This was such an exciting way to end another great racing season at JACK Thistledown,” said Patrick Ellsworth, Director of Racing Operations. “You could feel the excitement among handicappers, racing fans and team members as we all watched the Pick 6 wager grow. The feeling was electric and only helped to further emphasize what makes the great sport of horse racing so thrilling.”

JACK Thistledown Racino's previous record for a race day jackpot was set in 1985 with a total payout of $89,306, which was also a Pick 6 wager. The racino's live racing season begins late April and comes to a close in October, hosting Ohio's only graded thoroughbred horse race, the Ohio Derby, every June. In addition to live racing JACK Thistledown offers simulcast racing from all over the country year-round.
