The popular Stronach 5, with an industry-low 12-percent takeout, will feature races Friday afternoon from Laurel Park, Santa Anita Park, Golden Gate Fields and Gulfstream Park.

The sequence begins at 3:49 ET at Laurel with a field of 11 allowance optional claimers going 6 ½ furlongs. The Stronach 5 heads to the turf next with a field of seven going 5 ½ furlongs at Santa Anita. After a one-mile allowance optional claimer at Gulfstream and eight claimers going 5 ½ furlongs at Golden Gate, the sequence comes to a close with nine Florida-bred allowance optional claimers going 5 furlongs on the turf.

Friday's Stronach 5 Sequence

  • Leg One: Laurel Park 8th Race (11 entries, 6 ½ furlong): 3:49 ET, 12:49 PT
  • Leg Two: Santa Anita 1st Race (7 entries, 5 1/2 furlongs turf): 4 ET, 1 PT
  • Leg Three: Gulfstream Park 9th Race (11 entries, 1 mile): 4:38 ET, 1:38 PT
  • Leg Four:  Golden Gate Fields 3rd Race (8 entries, 5 ½ furlongs): 4:47 ET, 1:47 PT
  • Leg Five: Gulfstream Park Race 10th Race (9 entries, 5 furlongs turf): 5:10 ET, 2:10 PT

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

For the Stronach 5, if a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.
