Bruno DeJulio, of the Racing With Bruno/Bruno With The Works handicapping products available from Brisnet.com, has been watching horses from across the country and chosen five early prospects he likes for the 2016 Kentucky Derby. On TwinSpires.com, DeJulio highlights that the individual prospects' development over the coming months will be key, but suggests that these few are definitely worth watching.
The “proven” contenders on DeJulio's list are Airoforce and Mor Spirit, both of whom were winners last out. Bob Baffert is very high on Futurity winner Mor Spirit, with his large size and performance at Gulfstream, and DeJulio likes the veteran trainer's confidence in the prospect.
Conquest Big E finished a disappointing eighth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, but DeJulio looks back to his workouts this summer at Saratoga and hasn't given up on the son of Tapit just yet. One prospect untested on dirt is Collected, a colt Baffert refers to as his “sleeper.” Finally DeJulio looks at a maiden trained by Nicholas Zito named Vilma, who while slow to understand the game in his first starts, has showcased some talent.
