Due to the continued residual impact of Winter Storm Helena in the New York metropolitan area, the New York Racing Association has cancelled live racing for Sunday, January 8 at Aqueduct Racetrack to ensure the safety of all participants.

Today's featured stakes race, the $100,000 Ruthless, is rescheduled to run on Saturday, January 14. The one-day $14,592 Pick 6 carryover from Friday, January 6, will move into Thursday's card.

Simulcasting will remain available at Aqueduct Racetrack and Belmont Café. Online wagering is also available via NYRA Bets at

Live racing is scheduled to resume on Thursday, January 12, with a first post of 12:20 p.m.

Sorry they had to cancel, but that picture is beautiful wish I had it. That would look good on my wall.

That picture is from 5 years ago. Its repeated each time there is a cancellation. They should have cancelled last night.., the forecast here is for 20 mph winds all day., real feel of 7.

Point of clarity here., NYRA WANTED to run yesterday.., the jockeys said no.

Lock out the jockeys. If there’s winter racing then they need to run. They’re not good enough to ride in Florida won they have no choice. It’s a weather resistant track, get up and ride.

The Nyra will wait till they get all the fans at the track before they cancel they are hoping the horse players will fill the slot machines with money They don’t care about us or winter racing they should run 3 days a week and have full fields .We have seen enough of 5 fields and multi uncoupled entries 😂😂

Bob, they’ve been doing this for decades. In the 70s and 80s when I still lived in NY I’d call them at 11:30 or so and ask if they thought they’d have any problems running and they’d invariably say something to the extent of “no problem” and then more often than not cancel after the 2nd race. Back then you’d have to wait for admission and parking refunds. After being hit in the head with a bat time and again I stopped going there on inclement weather days 30 years ago. They didn’t give a “F” about us then and still don’t.
