The University of Minnesota has updated their app to help horse owners better calculate the weight of a horse. The Healthy Horse App uses new equations to calculate weight, which is important information of owners and caretakers know to feed and administer medication properly. The app caters to young and adult Miniature Horses, stock horses, saddle horses, Arabians draft horses, ponies, Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds.
The app takes into account the horse's height, length of body, neck and girth circumference to calculate a more-accurate estimation of weight. In addition to providing the horse's estimated weight, ideal body weight and body score are also calculated.
The Healthy Horse app can be downloaded from the Apple Store.
