West Point Thoroughbreds' Ring Weekend last raced on June 30, and his since been transitioning to a new off-the-track career under Olympian Phillip Dutton. Dutton's Facebook page posted an update on Tuesday, showing the 7-year-old gelded son of Tapit jumping some small jumps in the outdoor arena.
“We are thrilled with how well Ring Weekend is settling in to his new career,” the post reads. “He is incredibly balanced and has a great brain … exciting things ahead!”
Ring Weekend retired with a record of eight wins, five seconds and four thirds from 33 starts and earnings over $1.5 million. His major victories came in the Grade 1 Frank E. Kilroe Mile, G2 Seabiscuit, G2 Bernard Baruch, G3 Hill Prince, G3 Saranac, and G2 Tampa Bay Derby.
