Anthropologist Niobe Thompson shows viewers through striking 3D reconstruction and videos how this relationship has evolved.

Filmed in Mongolia, Kentucky, Saudi Arabia, Montana, Nova Scotia and Siberia, the striking series also explains why horses have a single toe and why they have nearly 360-degree vision. Also examined are the science behind a horse's speed and their emotional intelligence.

The series will be shown on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and Wednesday, Jan. 23. Check local listings for channel information.
