Kentucky's Department of Agriculture has told Turfway Park not to allow horses in from a training center in Oldham County, due to confirmed positive tests for EHV-1.

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC), two facilities in Oldham County have now reported cases of EHV-1. One of those facilities is reportedly HighPointe Farm and Training Center in LaGrange. Turfway Park's Tyler Picklesimer confirmed that the Department of Agriculture told the track to prohibit shippers from HighPointe and to scratch horses from HighPointe already entered.

The EDCC indicated there was no evidence that the cases at the two facilities were related. The Department of Agriculture has personnel on the grounds monitoring the situation, and the temperatures of all horses being kept on the premises in areas outside of any quarantined barns are being examined regularly.

There's also no evidence to suggest any link with the outbreak of EHV-1 at Fair Grounds Race Course in Louisiana.
