Capt. Candyman Can thriving in off-track career as a stable pony.

Capt. Candyman Can was a fan-favorite on the track. Winner of the King's Bishop-G1 and several other stakes or graded stakes events, he enjoyed a career spanning the better part of six years on the track. These days he's still adored by fans when he steps onto the track, but now it is in an entirely different capacity.

While he retired from racing in 2013, these days, “Captain” spends his time escorting thee current generation of trainees to and from the track as the stable pony for Ian Wilkes' barn, often with Wilkes' assistant Nicola Ward in the tack.

“He loves his job and the attention he gets,” Ward said in a recent interview for Keeneland's popular “Barn Notes” series. “He still has plenty of spirit about him.”
