A halter worn by racing's first-ever grand slam winner American Pharoah is among the largest group of worn halters ever assembled for auction. Thursday's Child and Our Mims Retirement Haven have joined forces to benefit both foster children and retired racehorses.
The online auction of memorabilia will be hosted on Starequine.com, the Lexington-based online Thoroughbred Sales operation, from Sept. 30 through Oct. 5.
Featured halters in the auction include those worn by American Pharoah, California Chrome, Stellar Wind, Runhappy, Big Brown, Havre de Grace, Miss Temple City, Royal Delta, Shackleford, and Will Take Charge.
Featured horseshoes in the auction will include those worn by fan-favorite Juba, Wise Dan, Seeking the Gold, Runhappy, and Outwork.
Several additional halters will be sold at a live event at Equus Run Vineyards in Lexington on Oct. 6, beginning at at 6 p.m.
