Todd Pletcher keeps a watchful eye on Always Dreaming as they head to the track at Pimlico prior to the Preakness

The Preakness Stakes highlights a pair of solid cards in Baltimore this weekend, and whispers of a Triple Crown effort have been floating across the Pimlico grounds all week. Of course, Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming has to win the 1 3/16-mile Preakness before the colt's connections will begin hoping for racing's premier triple, at least out loud, because a field of nine other 3-year-olds will be trying to dethrone the son of Bodemesiter on Saturday.

You know what’s better than a Triple Crown? Competition that carries across a season (or, even better though not very likely anymore, across multiple seasons). Majestic Prince/Arts and Letters; Affirmed/Alydar; Sunday Silence/Easy Goer. If we can get a Classic Empire/Always Dreaming rivalry going that carries on through the rest of the year regardless of who wins the Preakness, I’ll take it!!!

Yeah right ?? We can keep dreaming though …..heard Chris Cuomo refer to Always Dreaming as Already Dreaming…serves me right for watching CNN for my news ..

Supremely rare is the athlete that never has a bad day. Why people have to be so insulting is beyond me.
