A quartet of Grade 1 races feature on this weekend's stakes schedule, three of which are run in conjunction with Arlington Park's International Festival of Racing on Saturday.
The first G1 to be contested is the Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga. The always-venerable Heart to Heart will be the one to catch on the front end, but the field is well-matched and there are several who should be challenging him in the stretch run, including Delta Prince, Yoshida, and Made You Look.
Up first at Arlington is the G1 Secretariat for 3-year-olds. Analyze It, second in his last two starts to Catholic Boy, finally escapes that rival and is the 2-1 favorite on the morning line. A dozen other sophomores will line up against him in this spot, including talents like Hunting Horn and Untamed Domain.
In the G1 Beverly D, nine fillies and mares will line up for 1 3/16 miles on the turf course. Chad Brown trainee Sistercharlie was given morning-line favoritism, but Belmont Oaks winner Athena has shipped back to the United States for this race and could prove tough to beat. Brown has three other entrants as well, in Fourstar Crook, Inflexibility, and Thais. Daddys Lil Darling always comes running late, and Dona Bruja is fresh off a four-month break and could be tough as well.
The feature race, the G1 Arlington Million, features a field of 10 for the 1 1/4-mile challenge. Oscar Performance is the favorite on the morning line, but Deauville could pose a threat if he turns in a solid effort. Again, Brown has a trio of entrants in this spot, each of which can be dangerous: Robert Bruce, Almanaar, and Money Multiplier.
