As the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale rolls toward its halfway point, the Paulick Report is on the scene with an edition of the PR Special.
The latest issue leads with a Q&A interview with Alex Solis II, who has set the foundation for a big year as Gainesway's new director of bloodstock. Solis discussed his new position at the farm and looked back on an unforgettable 2019, which featured big victories under the Solis/Litt Bloodstock umbrella including Kentucky Derby winner Country House and Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner Covfefe.
Bloodstock editor Joe Nevills shines this edition's Stallion Spotlight on American Freedom, a resident of Airdrie Stud whose first foals go through the ring as newly-turned yearlings at the Keeneland January sale.
In Ask Your Veterinarian, Dr. Lilly Haywood of Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital examines ways to prevent and manage respiratory infections in young sales horses. The First-Crop Sire Roundup wraps up the issue with a list of stallions whose first pregnant mares can be found in the Keeneland January catalog.
