One of the biggest days of trade on the Thoroughbred auction calendar is about to take place at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale, and the Paulick Report is on the grounds once again with a jam-packed edition of the PR Special.
In this issue, bloodstock editor Joe Nevills looks ahead to the breeding season with a look back at the influence that prominent veterinarian Dr. Edward Fallon had on the breeding calendar, and ultimately the size of stud books.
Nevills then shines the Stallion Spotlight on Arrogate, the record-earning resident of Juddmonte Farms who will take the next step in building his legacy when his first weanlings enter the sales ring this fall.
This issue's Ask Your Insurer feature also keeps its focus on the theme of the mixed sales, with Bryce Burton of Muirfield Insurance discussing what options are available to insure an in-utero foal purchased with a broodmare at auction. In Ask Your Veterinarian, Rood & Riddle's Dr. Laurie Metcalfe covers the effectiveness of vaccines for Lawsonia, an organism that can cause intestinal disease in foals.
Everyone needs something to kick off the sale, and we find out that that “something” is for several notable figures in the bloodstock industry in “INQUIRY.” Then, Ray Paulick talks to trainer Jeremiah Engelhardt about his prospects for the pair of $500,000 divisions of the New York Stallion Stakes Series in this issue's Honor Roll, including Moonachie who is owned by retired NFL coach Bill Parcells.
