The yearling sale season kicks off at Fasig-Tipton in Lexington, Ky., on Tuesday with the July Sale, a day after the venerable auction company holds its annual Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale. The Paulick Report is pleased to offer its special print publication distributed on the sale grounds and online.

This edition of the PR Special includes takeaways by features editor Natalie Voss from the recent Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit – the eighth annual presentation of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation event.

This marks the debut of summer sale yearlings by 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah as well as those from the first crop by champion older male Honor Code. Frank Mitchell gives an overview of both young stallions.

Dream Tree is the cover girl of this year's July Sale catalogue and the first Grade 1 winner for Phoenix Thoroughbreds is also the subject of the Honor Roll feature written by Chelsea Hackbarth, who recounts how the filly was pinhooked from a weanling sale for the 2016 July auction.

Rood and Riddle veterinarian Kathryn Dern explains what is and isn't known about osteochondrosis in the Ask Your Veterinarian feature and Frank Mitchell delves into the July catalogue for a look at some of the sale's top hips.
