Tamarkuz began his career in Britain as a 2-year-old, posting three wins and a second from six starts through age three. He then headed to Dubai, making just two starts as a 4-year-old before blossoming at age five. He rattled off four straight wins in 2015 – three of them graded stakes – which culminated with a victory in the G2 Godolphin Mile.
Transferred to trainer Kiaran McLaughlin shortly after his victory in the Godolphin Mile, Tamarkuz competed against some of the top older horses in North America. In 2016, Tamarkuz had his best season yet, placing second to A.P. Indian in the G1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga and to Anchor Down in the G2 Kelso Handicap. He then capped his career with an impressive victory in the G1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita.
Tamarkuz raced from ages two through six, winning eight of 20 starts and placing an additional four times. He earned a total of $1,840,444.
